    I too watched The Last House On The Left–both versions, in fact. I’m not sure which one I prefer, but I think they’re both mediocre. However, the story was inspired by a supposedly classic Swiss (?) film in turn inspired by a poem from classic Swiss (?) folklore. You’d have to look it up on Wikipedia. The original film that inspired The Last House On The Left is known in English as The Virgin Spring.
