because something bad happened to her eyes.
because she wasn’t wearing safety goggles.

i think its because she (carol) did an experiment without safety goggles, so her eyes mutated and now there all glowy and IMMUNE TO EVERYTHING!..
therefore she does not need safety goggles. :3
