  5. The Annoying S a.k.a. The Dedicated Scrubs Fan says:

So? Squarepants is so much catchier than Rectangularpants.

  8. Josephine Claymore says:

    WRONG!!!!! IT’S A RECTANGULAR PRISM!!!!!!!

  9. Mattbob says:

Actually, it is correct Josephine-the word “rectangular” covers both the 2D rectangle, and the 3D rectangular prism. It’s a descriptive term. You wouldn’t say “His pants are rectangular prismular” would you? :p

  10. Natalie the Loony says:

    wow. math lesson.
as long as the axis lengths of that guy’s head can multiply together to give an accurate sum of his noggin volume in cubic inches, it’s alright with me.

  11. John says:

Oh Frankenstein…wise beyond your years. Please indulge us with more of your many caviots of wisdom.

  12. The Amazing Shea says:

I think his pants should be octagonal.

  13. The Amazing Shea says:

Also, to John: that’s not Frankenstein! It’s Frankenstein’s monster! >:|

  14. Jake says:

Actually a square is a rectangle according to the rules. And even if he is rectangular it’s a little too late to change his name.

  15. awesomeselflover says:

a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square. so his name is still false.

  16. LittleK says:

    “Caviot”? Really? :/

  17. The Annoying S a.k.a. The Dedicated Scrubs Fan says:

    …………………………are we really debating this?

  18. anonymous says:

This is wrong. A rectangle is a square, but a square is not a rectangle.

  19. Not says:

Actually, a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square.

  20. Random Person says:

MY LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Jiminy Cricket says:

For some reason, these math-y comments made me laugh more than the picture.

  22. dress to circle says:

    hahaha, yes, Jiminy.

I think John meant “caveats,” but that doesn’t make much sense in context. Caveats can be wise, but they’re warnings. “Caveat” means “beware” in Latin, hence the most familiar usage of the word in the phrase “Caveat Emptor,” or “buyer beware.”

I like the idea of SpongeBob OctagonalPants too, but don’t forget, even though he’s called OctagonalPants, the pants would be an octagonal prism. Otherwise they wouldn’t cover much! :P
